Dr. Seuss is know for all of his children books that he wrote. His birthday is March 2 and we are celebrating at our school. We do a dress up day, students dress up like a Dr. Seuss book character that day. To let students know about the day we created a bulletin board. I love the "Oh, The Places you will Go". There is so much that you can do with that title.

Since February is Heart month we hold a collection for the American Heart Association. Our school participates in Jump Rope For Heart. Our students earn prizes while collecting money for the heart association. To promote this activity we created a bulletin board.
I just wanted to share this quote with everyone. As an educator you continue to learn. Through out the years you will learn what works and what doesn't work.
Students can learn so much through reading, writing, and research. Animals are interesting creatures and there are facts you wouldn't know until you do researched. There are list of animals for every letter of the alphabet and we did a project to research one animal for each letter to create a book. We started with alligator and ended with zebra. Students had to read a story book about the animals, research facts using google, and make a craft. Students then took the facts that they learned to create a bubble map that we used to write the summary. After students did all the work for each letter of the alphabet we created a book. Below is the picture of the book we created and a couple of the pages. The list of animals
A- Alligator M- Monkey B- Bear N- Numbat C- Crab 0- Owl D- Dolphin P- Parrot E- Elephant and Eagle Q- Quail F- Fox R- Rabbit G- Giraff S- Snake H- Horse T- Tiger I- Impala U- Unicorn J- Jaguar V- Vulture K- Kanagroo W- Wolf L- Lion X- X-Ray Fish Y- Yak Z- Zibra Technology Alphabet There are so many tools that are important to edcaution. It can include computers, projectors, smart boards, clickers, mobi pads, tablets, and computer programs. Some programs that students can use to help them are study island, lexia, mobi max. Some of the programs that we use in the computer lab are typing, com, abcya.com, code.org, bbc bitesize dance mat typing. Students also learn how to use google to do research and microsoft office to create documents.
Teachers should have a toolbox of tools that they can use to teach and students should create a toolbox to help them learn. Some of the things that I use and resources can be found on my pinterest page. https://www.pinterest.com/dori30/technology-tools/ https://www.pinterest.com/dori30/computer/
5 Movements in the field of educational technology
Teachers have to be more creative with their lesson to students will want to learn. References thejournal.com/Articles/2014/02/03/10-Major-Technology-Trends-in-Education.aspx?Page=2 http://www.usnews.com/education/blogs/high-school-notes/2013/12/23/technology-trends-for-teachers-to-try-in-2014 Have you ever thought about how things have changed over the years? Something this is common in education is the projector. Teachers use to use an overhead projector and now we use a projector that is connected to the computer. The projector has changed over the years and the way it is being used. This is a film projector of 1925. Todays projector that we connect to the computer. The projector is something I use daily in my classroom. It is a great piece of technology to have when teaching. There are so many things that you can displace to your students when teaching a lesson. Projectors are not just for movie theaters to show movies on the big screen.
If you have a smart board a projector can make a lesson interactive for the studnets. Next to a computer a teacher should have a projector as another piece of technology in the classroom. Have you ever thought about the standards for technology? ISTE have created standards for teachers using technology in the classroom. Those Standards are:
1. Facilitate and inspire studnet learning and creavtivity 2. Design and develop digital age learning experiences and assessments 3. Model digital age work and learning 4. Promote and model digital citenship and responsibilty 5. Engage in professional growth and leadership These standards can be found at iste.org/standards With standards in place it tells teachers what they can and can't do in the classroom. With technology it opens up another world to learning. Technology is growing and changing everyday. We live in a digital world and should teach our studnets the proper ways to use the technology they are given. Let the creativity show with their work, there are so many posibilties to learning. Are you the type of person that is always taking photos? Do you ever backup the photo on your phone or devices so you don't loose them? I have had a phone crash in the past and loose all of my photos that was on it. If you have a iphone you have the cloud that backs your phones up but how do you ge them off the cloud? Another thing that you can use to back up photos is google photo, shutterfly, and other photo storage apps and sites. With these sites you can also access your pictures from any where so you can print them.
